About Nicole.
Nicole Ackman is a writer and historian based in North Carolina. She is a graduate student, pursuing her Master’s in Public History at NC State University, with a concentration in Museum Studies.
After graduating from Elon University, Nicole spent a year living in London while earning her Master’s in Culture, Policy, and Management from City University of London. While there, she was a writer for BroadwayWorld UK, a volunteer at the Charles Dickens Museum, and a Development intern at the Donmar Warehouse.
She then spent a year living in New York City, working as a Client Success Manager at Spektrix, a theatre software company.
Nicole has been a film and theatre critic, and podcaster, since 2017. She writes for a variety of outlets, which you can find on the Where I Write page.
In addition to being a regular contribution on the AwardsWatch podcast and the Oscars Central podcast, Nicole has two podcasts that she co-hosts. The first is a period drama podcasts, Petticoats & Poppies, and the second is a podcast in preparation for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film, The Barbie Breakdown.
When she’s not writing, Nicole loves reading Sally Rooney novels, obsessing over Star Wars and Marvel, listening to the Starry cast album, and watching anything starring Adam Driver.
